Trier - The Ancient City

TRIER at the river Moselle
is a hidden treasure. Located amidst the charming river valley scenery this city offers many historic attractions, without being overcrowded by tourists.

During ancient Roman times, Trier was a province capital with 70 000 inhabitants.

Come with us to discover eight (!) UNESCO World Heritage Sites e.g. See the best-preserved Roman town gate north the Alpes “Porta Nigra”, built around 180 AD, from sandstone blocks up to 6 tons.

Marvel at the huge Basilica with the throne hall of the emperor Constantine and be impressed by the Imperial Baths and the Roman Amphitheater with a capacity of 20.000 seats, site of the cruel games between animals and gladiators.

You may also want to visit the "Church of our Lady", which is the oldest Gothic church in our country or the famous Cathedral with its most precious relic: the Holy Robe, the tunic of Christ.

The Electoral Palace directly next to the Basilika is considered one of the most beautiful rococo palaces in the world.

Time for private strolls and a quiet break at the lovely banks of the river Moselle.
