Nuremberg / Rothenburg
This tour combines Tour no. 3a (Nuremberg) and no. 3 (Rothenburg)
First an excursion to Nuremberg, capital of Franconia with a very eventful history:
- a mighty center of european trade and commerce during the Middle Ages,
- the focus scene of the "Third Reich" and
- nowadays a vivid city.
But Nuremberg is also the birth place of one of Germany's greatest artists: Albrecht Dürer and it also hosts the famous Christkindl's Market in winter.
The Germanic Museum, the castle and the beautiful old town center pay a day visit. Lunch package included, but do not forget to taste the famous Nuremberg fried sausages.
After that we drive to Rothenburg (on the Romantic Road) and take you on a guided tour to the best preserved medieval town in Germany.... like a journey back in time!.
We will go for a sightseeing walk through the picturesque old lanes: See St. Jacobs Church with the glorious wood carved altar by Tilman Riemenschneider, half-timbered houses, city gates, the mighty Renaissance town hall, the fascinating medieval crime museum and much more – you will be put into an atmosphere that reminds you of past times.
If you are looking for German souvenirs, you will find it in Rothenburg: Cuckoo clocks, carvings, wine glasses, Christmas-tree ornaments, beer steins - everything a tourists heart desires.
At many lovely restaurants you can enjoy a traditional German meal, but don’t forget to try a “Schneeball” (snowball) a local fried dough ball with many different toppings.
Approx. 8:00 pm we will be back in Frankfurt.
